"Badibata" (A Drive for Enrolment):
Badibata (Enrolment drive) is a massive campaign taken up from 1st June,06 to 16th June,06 to enroll all school age children.
Gram sabhas suggested strategies to be adopted for 100% enrolment and retention.
Other campaign activities like holding rallies, exhibitions and publicity through dissemination of educative material taken up.
Daywise activates included enlisting of out of school children, issue of notices to employers of Child labour and ensuring their release etc.
School readiness activities like sprucing up of the school premises, TLM, academic plan, transition etc., programme.
Admission of class V and class VII children into next higher classes carried out.
STEPS TAKEN FOR COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION IN SARVA SHIKSHA ABHIYAN
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan envisages active participation of the community in the school development programmes. Several steps have been taken for ensuring the active participation/involvement of the community in these programmes.
Training of community leaders @4 members per village & 2 persons per school is an important component of the programme. All community leaders and SEC members at school level are being trained/sensitized on community involvement/participation in school development activities every year as part of the SSA activity.
The Government have notified an act (Act 13 of 1998) by which School Education Committees (SEC?s) were constituted in every school for active participation of the community in their development. Pursuant to the act , 70504 SEC?s have been formed. The SEC?s have become the focal points for taking up the various activities at the school level like construction of new school buildings, additional classrooms, providing other basic amenities, release of grants and monitoring of their proper utilization in order to achieve the desired objectives. Consequent to the completion of the term of the SEC?s, the Government vide G.O.Rt.No:842,School education dept;dt:14/12/2005 have nominated the Mandal Education officers as person-in-charges of the SEC?s of the respective mandals for a period of one year or till the constitution of the SEC?s whichever is earlier.
Government have issued orders vide G.O.Ms.No.162, school education dept, dt:14-11-04 permitting donors to adopt schools which will be named after the choice of the donor by donating an amount of Rs.5.00 lakhs for Primary school, Rs.7.5 lakhs for Upper primary school & Rs.10.00 lakhs for High school. A website :www.vidyanidhi.org has been hosted for giving wide publicity for the scheme. An amount of approximately Rs.11.00 crores has so far been received under the scheme in various districts.
Several programmes were also taken up to mobilize the community in ensuring the achievement of the important goal of universal enrolment. Enrolment drives like ?Chaduvulapandaga? and most recently ?Badibata? were taken up successfully.
